I grew to have an obsession with catalpa trees years ago while I was landscaping. I knew that one day I wanted to write a song with that image, but I didn’t know how it would take shape or what it would signify. I didn’t expect the chorus would hit me as strongly as it did. Sticking with a similar theme as everything changes, the chorus says “There’s no rewind on time. Only a memory, faded into history, the remnants of a fallen tree.”
